In the most thrilling, energy-sapping match where neither play was the 'loser', it was Aga Radwanska who came out on top having played a three and a half hours long marathon against Italian warrior Sara Errani. She next faces the big ask of overcoming Serena Williams in the semifinals. The match finished with Radwanska panting, and struggling to get her breath back as she spoke at a post match interview. The Pole smashed 53 winners and 6 aces en route to a 6-7,7-5,6-4 win.
After 1 hour and 13 minutes of play, Sara Errani clinched the first set in a tie-breaker. The Italian topped in a see-saw first set that pushed both contenders to a great extent, but Errani showed resilience and presence of mind in the crucial tie-breaker to win it. The Italian converted both the break points early on in the first set and hammered 23 winners to come at top in the end. Radwanska has had her opportunities but she failed to capitalize those in the tie-breaker.

Despite an early beak of serve, Errani failed to convert the initiative that she had gained. Radwanska is known to be a fighter and she pounced the moment she felt some hesitation. After winning some crucial points and thrilling rallies it was Radwanska who closed the set out taking it 7-5.
The last set itself was another see-saw affair as the Pole quickly raced into a 5-2 lead with two breaks of serve. Just as the Italian looked down and out, No.4 seed played a tired game as she served for the match, resulting in a break of serve. As Errani held serve to bring the match to a tantalizing 5-4 scoreline with Radwanska on serve, it seemed as though the momentum had swung one more time.
Alas for it was not to be as Radwanksa crushed the Italian's hopes of landing a place in the final four, by cashing in on her first match point to close out the match 6-4, in the final set.

A fantastic match that is second only to the Vika/ Kerber match, but only marginally. A pleasure to watch a different breed of tennis to the power stuff we're used to.
