“This just feels like the perfect place to retire, I just wish it wasn’t today.” said a visibly emotional Kim Clijsters after her defeat at the hands of England's Laura Robson. That was it, and indeed it was the perfect place to retire, but not this way. It was almost an unceremonious exit to one of the greatest players from the last decade. Kim Clijseters would not only be known for her three US Open titles, but a host of other accolades that lit up her glittering career.
Lets re-live this legend's career on the day she decided to call it a day.

I want a clear out at Wimbledon of Tracy Austin, Mac etc. Get Kim to front the new team!

Maybe in a few years. Think they want to extend the family first.

I hope we get to see her knocking about a little say at Wimbledon. Think she might be a good future commentator. Unless she goes down the Graf route?

I doubt we'll see another player like her ever again.

Yeah, I think the injuries probably made her the player she is/was?

Imagine the player she's have been without the injuries? I suppose you can say that about anyone.

Really she should have retired after the Australian in 11, but who could foresee the injuries?

It was a shame how it ended, but a great boost for a massive future talent. The thing was always going to be lack of match practice unfortunately and it cost her not winning a title in her swan song year. You'll be missed though, but always remembered.
