Rafael Nadal stayed en course to defending his Barcelona Open title after he overwhelmed countryman Fernando Verdasco 6-0, 6-4 in 1 hour and 25 minutes. Nadal showed no mercy to his opponent in a very impressive performance.
It was a BAGEL in the first set! What a performance by the defending champion as he demolished Verdasco 6-0. He dominated the proceedings from the beginning to take the set in just under half an hour. A high first serve percentage saw Nadal hold comfortably as he broke the Verdasco serve thrice.
The second set was a far more competitive set with Nadal getting the crucial early in the set and then holding his serves to easily prevail 6-4. A very compact performance by the defending champion was experienced by the crowd as he thrashed Verdasco, who was clueless about what to do!
Rafa will face David Ferrer in the finals tomorrow.
