In an all Spanish clash in the second-round of the Barcelona Open, it is the king of clay Rafael Nadal taking on the tall, lanky Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Both players are well acquainted with how the other one plays and would be looking to capitalize on their opponent's weaknesses today. Nadal is looking to win his second title of the year.
Nadal, fresh from his first title of the year and the eighth straight title at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters would be looking to continue his tremendous form on clay and also try closing in the Gap with the World No.1 Novak Djokovic. With his confidence on clay growing, Nadal is one of the toughest guys to beat on clay as he prepares well for the upcoming Masters events and the Roland Garros. He has a very good 22-3 win-loss record, indicating he has gone deep in all tournaments he has played.
On the other side of the net, Garcia-Lopez comes into this tournament ranked 78 in the world. He has an average 9-8 win-loss record with a couple of quarter-finals appearances in 2012. His biggest scalp this year has been of World No.4 Andy Murray as he looks to get another one under his belt. But it will not be easy by any stretch of imagination as even he would be aware about what Nadal is capable of on clay.
The two have played 4 times before with Nadal leading 3-1. Their last meeting was last year at the Shanghai Masters, which Nadal won in straight sets.
