Agnieszka Radwanska played some spectacular tennis and not just defesively, something that she is known to do, but also attackingly. One has to wonder whether it is the end of an era as both Williams' sister go crashing out of the Grand Slam in two days. It was a surprisingly wayward display from Venus Williams who is really known for her precise play unlike her sister who relies more on brutal power.
The Pole was on the Venus Serve from the word go as she broke her in the very first game of the match and then again in the fifth game to take a 4-1 lead. Venus showed no signs of any kind of fight and was finally beaten 6-2 in the first set. Venus had made 18 unforced errors in the first set alone as compared to Radwanska's 4. The first serve percentage was also at a high 73 for Radwanska while Venus struggled. Radwanska got 2 break points and took them both. The Pole won the set in 28 mins.
The second set was more of the same and Radwanska broke Venus twice early on and raced into a 5-1 lead. That seemed to wake Venus up finally, who showed a brief fight back and broke Radwanska in the eighth game. That however turned out to be too little too late as the World No.3 won the match in just over an hour to set up a mouth watering clash with Svetlana Kuznetsova.
