Wimbledon is one Grand Slam of the year that attracts the best of players and evokes the best of talks, and when players start talking, everyone's all ears. Find out what your favourite tennis stars said about their lives both on court and off it -

 Serena Williams on the improvement in her game - "I think I'm a better player now, I was young, and I feel like I knew I could improve. I definitely think I'm a better player now."

Dementieva on her confidence boosting Olympic triumph - "I think last season winning the Olympic gold medal was a really big moment for me, and gave me a lot of confidence. So I'm just trying to keep this confidence for my career."

Venus Williams on her chances against Safina in the semifinals - "She has top ranking but I have more experience in this tournament and more success, When I go out there I'm going to feel like I want to make it happen on my side of the net."

Federer on his possible final opponent - "Andy (Murray) is an excellent player and prior to finals he has always beaten me. I don't want to take anything away from him or make an excuse, but he played me when I have had back problems which made it hard for me to play my best game. But he played me in the right way and was successful against me because he is a great tactician and he will be a great grass player in the future."

Ivanovic on her assessment of the match against Samantha Stosur - "I think my tactics and my game-plan prevailed over my emotions. That is something I am really happy about."

Serena on the huge number of Russians in the draw - "Everyone is from Russia. Sometimes I think I'm from Russia, too. I feel like, you know, okay, all these new ‑ovas. I think my name must be Williamsova."

Haas on his fate at Wimbledon over the years - "I always felt, deep down, that Wimbledon had something left for me. I thought that it had better show itself soon. If you look through my past experiences here, there’s a lot of bad luck involved. When I was seeded three here, my parents were involved in a really bad motorbike accident, so I skipped a year. Then I stepped on a ball in the warm-up when I felt I had a decent draw."

Venus on her stellar performance over the years - "Do I feel invincible here? I'd like to say yes, but I really do work at it. Against Safina, all I can predict is more of the same stuff I've been doing. Just very aggressive. I think she definitely plays aggressively, tries to move forward when she can, and also plays good defence and tries to take advantage of serving well when she can."

Serena on the TV script she is working on - “It's a mixture between some of my favourite shows, like Desperate Housewives, and Sex and the City, and actually Family Guy. It's kind of those put together in one, if you can imagine.”  

Federer to a reporter on the due date of his unborn child with wife Mirka Vavrinec - "Mirka told you? I'm sure she did. She invited you, too, didn't she?"
