In a battle of rising American stars, Sam Querrey defeated John Isner 6-7(3), 7-6(5), 6-3 to claim the 2010 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships, being played here in Memphis, USA.
"It feels great," said Querrey. "It’s tough playing your good buddy like that. If anyone else won a tournament I’d want it to be him. You’re not going to get the same reaction out of me for winning this than if I was playing someone else."
Isner, who later teamed up with Querrey to lift the doubles crown as well, said - "To be honest, I felt like I was in control of the match the first two sets, although they were really close. I had the match on my racquet, that’s all I can ask for. But credit to him, he played well when it counted – better than me – which is hard because I like to think I play really well in those situations as I have in the past."
This is Querrey's third ATP World Tour title which got him a winner's check of $261,500 and valuable 500 South African Airways ATP Singles ranking points. Isner pocketed $121,600 and 300 ranking points for the runner up finish.
