One of the all time greats Pete Sampras said that Rafael Nadal is missed by tennis people and fans. Sampras asserted that the Spaniard might not be missed by his rivals or other players but almost every other person related to tennis is missing him.
Recently in an interview, the legendary Sampras asserted, “He’s missed. He might not be missed by the players, but he’s missed by tennis people and by the fans.” Nadal was expected to return in the Aussie Open but his progress was halted by a stomatch virus. The Spaniard missed out many tournaments last year including London Olympics due to knee injury. And, once he recovered from that knee injury, Nadal got affected by a stomatch virus.
Sampras further gave his views over Spaniard’s return and said that Nadal has made a good decision to return to action on clay because that is his favorite surface. As he quoted, “He’s going about things the right way by returning at a clay-court tournament in South America, as he knows clay like the back of his hand, and the field in South America probably won’t be that strong so he could win the tournament.”
When asked about Nadal’s absence in the 2013 Australian Open, Sampras added, He added, “But there’s something missing in Melbourne. He’s great for the sport, and everyone wants to see him back at the top again.”
