Shahar Peer of Israel, seeded second, dismissed Italian Sara Errani 6-2 6-0 to advance into the final of Moorila Hobart Internaional on Friday.
“It was tougher than it looked actually. The first set was very, very close … but I’m very happy. I think I was playing better and better as the game was going and I think I finished very good so I’m happy about it,” Peer said.
She will next confront fourth seeded Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko, who overcame a set down to beat top seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues 4-6 6-3 6-4.
“I was not worried about being down in the first set because you have two more sets to win the game,” Bondarenko said.
Peer and Bondarenko have met on five occasions, with Peer leading the head to head count 3-2. They last met in 2009 on clay with Bondarenko winning in straight sets.
