Russian teenager Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was taken the distance but she ensured a win to spoil her opponent's birthday bash with a gruelling three set victory in the final of Istanbul Cup.

 

One of the brightest stars on the Sony Eircsson WTA Tour, Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated birthday girl Elena Vesnina in a come-from-behind vitcory to claim the 2010 Istanbul Cup, being played in Istanbul, Turkey.

Vesnina led Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 4-0 before the young Russian started making a comeback and turned things around with the help of her thwacking groundstrokes.

After levelling the match at one set a piece, Pavlyuchenkova secured a golden break in the third set to complete the 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 win in marathon 3 hours and 10 minutes of play.
