Frenchman Benoit Paire eased past eighth seeded Bernard Tomic of Australia 6-0, 6-4 for a place in the second round of Gstaad Open on Monday. The Frenchman lost only four points on his serve in the first set and broke Tomic five times in the match to win the duel in straight sets.

Austrian qualifier Martin Fischer defeated Swiss wild card Sandro Ehrat 6-2, 6-4 and will next face top seeded Serbian Janko Tipsarevic.

Another Frenchman Paul henri Mathieu battled past Igor Andreev of Russia with 6-3, 7-6(4) scoreline to set up next round clash with third seeded Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka.

Also, Czech qualifier Jan Hernych defeated another qualifer Matteo Viola of Italy 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
