Paes, Stepanek clinch doubles title in Shanghai
In the battle of the three Indians in the Shanghai Masters final, it was the lone Indian Leander Paes, who came out on top as he defeated his rivals at the other end of court Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi.

In a clash that promised fireworks, India's three top doubles' tennis players collided in the Shanghai Masters final. It was Leander Paes who came out on top of his compatriots in the end as the he and his partner Radek Stepanek who came out on top as they rallied back from a set down, to claim victory. After winning the match, Leander made no qualms about the fact that this match was a bit personal following the Olympic controversy to which the trio were a centre to.

The fourth seeds claimed a 6-7(7-9), 6-3, 10-5 comeback victory over the Indian duo, seeded seventh.

With his partner Radek Stepanek, Paes saved four of the five break points the pair faced and were able to break his opponents twice to claim victory in an hour and 36 minutes, winning 50 percent of the points on the Indian duo's second serve.

"Today was a bit more of a personal match for us three Indians," Paes said

"Radek came in and he made it fun for me. He relaxed, laughed, joked. Said, 'stay smooth, relaxed and have a hungry intensity'."

The Indian-Czech pair have already qualified for the season ending championships in London, and earned an extra 1000 ATP points with that win. Bopanna and Bhupathi also strengthened their clam to a spot by getting to the final and adding another 600 points to their names,

"We've had a great year," said Paes. "It started off with a big bang. To do well early in a partnership is something that can happen. But to continue playing well right through the whole year shows the quality of tennis that we play."
