Melanie Oudin of America stunned Romanian Sorana Cirstea in her first round match at Aegon Classic on Tuesday.
American Melanie Oudin produced the upset of the day at Aegon Classic as she ousted 10th-seeded Sorana Cirstea of Romania 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Tuesday.
"On grass it's all about holding serve, and I knew if I could do that I'd have a few chances on hers," Oudin said. "In the second and third sets I served well, returned well and played aggressively when I had to."
Also, eleventh seeded Iveta Benesova and 12th seeded Tamira lost to wildcard Tara Moore 6-1, 6-2 and Anne Keothavong 6-2,7-5 respectively.
Another seed Eleni Daniilidou, seeded 16th, lost to France's Stephanie Foretz Gacon 6-4, 6-2.
The only seed to move into the next round was ninth seeded Marina Erakovic.
