America's sweetheart Melanie Oudin opened her title title campaign on her favourite courts at the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center with a comfortable win over Ukrainian Olga Savchuk and entered the second round of the 2010 U.S. Open, the year's final Grand Slam being played here at Flushing Meadows, New York.

Oudin opened the match under tight competition and failed to find her top form in order to snatch a break. However, once a series of unforced errors came from the Ukrainian's racquet in the eighth game, Oudin closed the opening set by 6 games to 3 on serve.
The second set turned out to be a lopsided affair as Oudin hit one winner after another to complete the 6-3, 6-0 win in little over one hour of fantastic tennis.
In the day's second match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, defending champion Kim Clijsters takes on Hungarian Greta Arn to kick start her title defence.
