World No.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic will square against Aussie No 1 Bernard Tomic in the second round of ATP Rome Masters.
After an unbelievable season last year, the Serb has not stopped and is still firing on all cylinders. Djokovic has had a tremendous year so far and has already won the Aussie Open and the Miami Masters. The Serbian skipped his home ATP event - Serbia Open, sighting the passing away of his grandfather as his reason for it. Djokovic also said the same at Monte Carlo after being beaten by Nadal claiming he had 'no energy'. Last week at Madrid Masters, he reached the quarter-finals where he was beaten by countryman Janko Tipsarevic.
His opponent: Tomic has a decent 16-10 win-loss record this season and he is chasing his maiden title on tour. The Australian reached the semis in Brisbane, where he lost to Andy Murray. After that he made it to the quarterfinal at Delray Beach. He has an ordinary 4-4 win-loss record this season on clay. In the opening round here at Rome Masters, he overcame first set loss to beat Colombain Santiago Giraldo 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Both players have met once at Wimbledon 2011, where Djokovic won with 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 scoreline.
TennisEarth Pick: Djokovic in three sets.
