Novak Djokovic moved one step closer to defend his Dubai Open title for the fourth time when he edged past Janko Tipsarevic 6-1, 7-6(6). It is one way traffic for the defending champion as he wrapped up the first set in 27 minutes. Djokovic won 80% of the first serve points as he brushed aside a rather clueless Tipsarevic. Djokovic was very comfortable with the way the his opponent was playing and he won the first set 6-1.
The second set was a very close encounter as Tipsarevic raised his game and troubled Djokovic throughout the set as the set was a nip and tuck encounter. As the second set went into a tie break, Tipsarevic had a set point, but he let it slip out of his hands as he hit a double fault to eventually lose the match. Djokovic served 7 aces and got 75% of his first and second serves to win the match 6-1, 7-6(6). He next faces Andy Murray in a mouth watering semi-final.
