Novak Djokovic is trying to make it a hat trick of titles at the China Open this year, where he has confirmed his participation.
Novak Djokovic became the fourth person from the Top-10 to confirm his entry for the China Open. Djokovic, who skipped last year's China Open due to an injury, will be looking to continue his undefeated run at the National Tennis Center after capturing the 2009 and 2010 titles. However, his tasks have been cut short as the draw also features Rafael Nadal, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Ferrer.
The World No. 2 is very excited to be returning to the 2012 China Open, “I was really disappointed that I couldn't play in Beijing last year because of my injury, so I am really looking forward to going back to play the China Open this year. The tournament holds special memories for me, as I have a great record there, and I can't wait to return to Beijing to play in front of all my fans.”
Tournament Director, Alfred Zhang said, “Last year, unfortunately Novak withdrew at the last minute due to injury, which was a big disappointment for the fans, but he is playing incredible tennis again this season and we are excited that the fans can see him at the China Open this year. So far, four of the top six ATP players have confirmed their participation, and we are trying our best to build an all-star lineup for our fans.”
Djokovic will also feature in the 2012 China Open promotional, which was filmed in Madrid in May and will be released soon. The Serb still remembers a lot of the shoot stating, “This was the first time that I have had to dress up as a magician for a television commercial. It was a very different experience as normally we are wearing our tennis clothes and holding a racquet. The opportunity to do something a little bit different and more creative was good. I really enjoyed the experience.”
