Novak Djokovic defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 6-1, 5-7, 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-1
Novak Djokovic yet again proved why he is the best in the best business, this time beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Quarter-finals of Roland Garros. The stakes were high, with Tsonga gunning to become the first Frenchman to reach the Last 4 since Gael Monfils in 2008. For Djokovic, it was a chance to clinch his fourth straight major and complete a non-calendar year Grand Slam.
In a match that lasted for just over 4 hours, it was Djokovic who clawed his way back from the jaws of defeat to outlast the last remaining Frenchman. What hurt Tsonga more was the fact that he failed to convert his 4 Match Points.
Djokovic after the match commented, “As a tennis player, this is what you live for.”
