Nicolas Almagro Wins Miami Finale
Nicolas Almagro defeated Andy Roddick in straight sets to win the inaugural Miami Tennis Cup Exhibition Event.

Nicolas Almagro who is ranked No. 11 in ATP World Tour beat Andy Roddick of US 6-4, 7-5 in the Miami Tennis Cup Exhibition Final on Sunday.

Roddick who recently retired at the US Open was broken once in each set. He dropped the ninth game of the first set at 30-40 on a netted backhand. Roddick saved a break point in the ninth game of the second set but had no answer for an Almagro forehand crosscourt passing shot at 30-40 in the 11th game.

Almagro who is from Spain had earlier met American veteran Roddick two times in tour matches, both of which the Spainard lost.

During the on-court ceremony Roddick was given a bike. Among the highlights of the event were the ballgirls who were chosen especially for the occasion and the couches instead of the chairs for the changeover.

Earlier on Saturday, former World No. 1 Roddick defeated current US Open Champion and Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray in one of the most anticipated match of the event.

The three- day tournament is one of the first in kind in the U.S.and featured six top ranked ATP professionals.
