Nalbandian, Ferrero reach Copa Telemex quarter-finals

Localite David Nalbandian struggled in his win over Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver at the pre quarterfinals of Copa Telemex.

David Nalbandian, who is attempting his comeback after nine months since being sidelined with a hip injury last May, was forced to work hard for a  6-7 (5) 6-4 7-6 (7) win over Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver at Copa Telemex on Wednesday.

Nalbandian next faces another Spaniard, fifth seeded Albert Montanes, a 6-3 6-2 winner over countryman Pablo Andujar.

Second-seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain moved ahead with a 6-2 6-4 win over Marcos Daniel of Brazil.

He will next confront qualifier Santiago Ventura, who battled past seventh seeded Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-4 7-6(10).
