Gunning for a record seventh Roland Garros title, defending champion Rafael Nadal of Spain earned a straight sets 6-2 6-0 6 victory over World No. 15 Juan Monaco of Argentina and secured his berth in the quarterfinals of the 2012 French Open, this year’s second Grand Slam tournament being played here in Roland Garros, Paris.
