World No. 2 Rafael Nadal won his eighth consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title, with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over World No 1 Novak Djokovic in the championship match played on Sunday.

Known as the King of clay for his awe-inspiring exploits on red-soil, Rafael Nadal looked in his typical touch and stepped on the pedal from word ' go'. Nadal struck early in the third game of the set and once again while Djokovic was serving to stay in the set.  The Spaniard fired 2 aces , total of 8 winners and converted 2 out 4 break points to take one set lead in the match.

Nadal upped the level of play in the second set and raced to 4-0 lead in the set. Though Djokovic broke  Nadal at 4-1 but that prove too late for him as Nadal broke back in the very next game and then successfuly served out for the title.

With the win, Nadal also surpassed Roger Federer record to become the first player to win 20 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles.
