Second seeded and defending champion Rafael Nadal stayed on course to win Monte Carlo Masters title for record eight time with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Frenchman Gilles Simon in the second semi-final of the day.
Both players made a solid start to the match and held to their serves quite easily. Nadal struck first at 5-3 in the opening set and then successfully served out for a set lead in the match.
The Spaniard kept the pressure in second set as well and secured a early break at 2-1. He kept the break till the end to wrap the set 6-4.
He will now face World No 1 Novak Djokovic in the final, who prevailed against Tomas Berdych in hard fought three sets.
