2009 champions Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez reclaimed the BNP Paribas Open doubles title with a comprehensive 6-2, 7-6(3) victory over American John Isner and Sam Querrey in the final match on Sunday in Indian Wells, California.
Nadal, who saw his singles run end in the semifinals this year to eventual champion Roger Federer, won his eighth doubles title, and his sixth with doubles partner, compatriot Marc Lopez.
"It’s been a very good tournament for me," said Nadal. "I enjoy a lot being here and Indian Wells is one of my favorite tournaments of the year. I feel very comfortable here. Finishing the two weeks with the victory is the best way to finish, even if it’s doubles, not singles. I’m playing well and I’m happy about most of the things that happened these past two weeks."
As a team, Nadal and Lopez have won 4 titles, whereas Nadal's personal doubles title tally has reached an impressive 8. Lopez has six titles to his name with various partners.
Losing finalists Sam Querrey and John Isner were attempting to win their second masters series title after their maiden win in Rome last season. Isner, who had an eventful week with place in both singles and doubles final, rises to a career high No.10 and No.27 ranking in singles and doubles respectively.
