To get enough match practice in the transition from clay to grass, World No. 2 Rafael Nadal will return to the Gerry Weber Open for the first time in seven years. This tournament is an ATP World Tour 250 event, which is played at Halle, Germany. Nadal will join five-time champion Roger Federer in the draw. Federer will be looking forward to win his first title at the tournament since 2008. Interestingly, six of the Top 10 players in the ATP Rankings will feature at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle and the AEGON Championships in London.
Nadal failed to move beyond the opening round in 2005 in Halle. Other top contenders in the draw are seventh-ranked Tomas Berdych and defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber, who will give a tough fight to Nadal and Federer.
On the other hand, in AEGON Championships, which will be played at the prestigious Queen’s Club, World No. 4 and defending champion Andy Murray will be looking forward to claim his third-title there. Other top contenders in the draw are World No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and eighth-ranked Janko Tipsarevic.
