Murray made a tight start to the match and faced stiff competition from Isner who held all his serves to push the opening set into the deciding tie-break. As Murray picked up a mini-break at 4-3, things became easier for him to seal the opener 7-6(4).
The second set saw Murray clinch an elusive break in the seventh game which helped him race to a two sets to love lead. The third set turned out to be a lopsided affair when Murray broke Isner twice to complete the 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-2 victory.
"Yeah, I'm playing well. No question about that. Uhm, just need to play like I have been, and maybe a bit more if I want to win the tournament," said Murray.
In the women's draw, Chinese star Jie Zheng continued her magical run in the championship with a dominant 7-6(), 6-4 win over rising Ukrainian star Alona Bondarenko. Both Zheng and Na Li have been in pretty good form throughout the tournament.
"Yeah, I think Australia is lucky for me because I win the first Grand Slam doubles title in Australia. So I'm so. how do you say, happy I in quarterfinal of Australia also," said Zheng. "But I think we can go the far way because you can see Li Na in the fourth round. I hope we can be in the semifinal for both Chinese player, yes."
