Second seeded Andy Murray of Britain downed Colombian Santiago Giraldo 6-1, 6-2 to book his place in the last eight of Barcelona Open on Thursday.
Murray stepped on the pedal from word 'go' and raced to 3-0 lead in the opening set with a early break in the second game. The Scot struck for the second time at 5-1 scoreline and then successfully served out for the first set lead in the match. He arrowed 4 aces and converted 2 out of 4 break points to wrap the set 6-1.
Both players exchanged a break early in the second set before Murray secured a second break in the fifth game and third one in the seventh game to won the match in straight sets.
Murray will next face Canadian Milos Raonic, who defeated Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 7-5, 7-6.
