Fourth-seeded Spaniard Albert Montanes took 83 minutes to defeat the qualifier Andreas Haider-Maurer with a 3-6 6-1 6-0 scoreline and earned his berth in the Allianz Suisse Open Gstaad quarter-finals.
Montanes has already won two ATP World Tour titles this year. On the other hand, seventh seed Richard Gasquet, playing in Gstaad for the first time in three years, beat Daniel Brands of Germany with a 6-7(5) 6-3 6-0 scoreline in one hour and 36 minutes.
In another match, Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver knocked out last year's finalist Andreas Beck with a 7-5 6-4 scoreline in 90 minutes.
