Men's Grand Slams: Moments that Made the Difference

Not since 2003 had there been four different winners of the four Grand Slams up until 2012. The way 2011 had ended, what seemed on the horizon was a fightback from Rafael Nadal, while that began alright for the Spaniard, he couldn't carry on after the French Open with injury sidelining the left hander.

Just when it appeared that Novak will now take control at Wimbledon, it was Roger Federer who played some of the best tennis we have seen from him in over two years.

The later part of the year was however dominated by the great British hope – Andy Murray.

All in all it was a year dominated by the 'Big Four'.

Let's revisit the best moments from each of the Grand Slams on the men's side.

We are not getting Rafa back 'til at least next year it seems.

It was definitely tough. I think we were both really nervous in the beginning and then after two games I settled down a little bit and relaxed. Toward the end, Julia brought her game to another level and I was struggling. I'm really happy with my service game at 5-5. I made two aces, which I rarely do, and after that I settled down and it was fine. It was a great atmosphere with the home crowd, although they didn't really know who to cheer for. And the nice thing is with all the injuries that I really appreciate it much more now and I'm really happy about any kind of win. It doesn't matter where or when or which round, so I'm really happy.

Today I think I could read him good. Then I think I put pressure on him and he forced a lot. I was ready for his main spot to be covered. Then, I think he forced a lot and that helped me a lot. - Gael Monfils earned a comprehensive 6-4 6-2 victory over fifth-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada on Tuesday at the Gerry Weber Open and secured his berth in this ATP World Tour 250 Event.
Halle is one of my favorite places on the tour, and being successful there makes it even more likable. Paris has little to do with Halle or Wimbledon, but looking back I am really disappointed with my match against Tsonga. There are days like that, but fortunately there haven't been so many in my career, and I hope there won't be that many to come. I didn't really expect to necessarily win a lot of titles, and I thought I played well in Rome and Paris, until the match with Tsonga. I now feel that the best time for me is still to come in the second half of the year. It's a very important phase of the year, leading to Wimbledon and the North American swing with the U.S. Open.

- Novak Djokovic was left devastated after his marathon five loss to Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of Roland Garros but the Serb insists that this loss will not affect the rest of his season.
I think everybody knows in this room that the schedule of yesterday was wrong. That's the real thing. 'The director of the tournament, supervisors, they take a bad position two days ago, because when you make the schedule at 7pm, you know what weather predictions you have for the next days. I cannot play third after a men's and a girl's match when my possible opponent plays second after girls. That's not fair. And today I was playing almost three hours on court, and my opponent was watching the TV in the locker room. The excuse they told me was because Rosol have to play doubles. I am sorry, but that's a joke. You have one more week to play doubles if you want to play doubles. 'Why do you want to protect the player who has to play doubles? So I'm going to write myself in the doubles draw then and I have the priority to play? That's not the right excuse to make a schedule like this.
