Melzer opened the match under tight competition and managed to break Seppi's serve only in the last game of the set which gave him the lead after claiming it by 6 games to 4. The second set brought early success for the Austrian who broke Seppi's serve in the fourth game and never looked back as he posted the straight sets 6-4, 6-2 win in just over an hour to enter the finals here. Melzer has several semifinal finishes this year to his resume, most notable of which is his French Open last four finish which helped him reach new levels of success.
He now meets the winner of the match between Florian Mayer and Andrey Golubev, who are on court currently to battle the second semifinal.
