Bartoli made a superb start to the match and reeled off seven games in a row to win the first set and a break in the second with a 6-1, 2-0 score lead.
It was then that Petra Kvitova made a comeback in the match and after trading the service breaks, won the second set 6-4.
The decider turned out to be an extremely topsy turvy affair when, after holding a break lead at 5-3, Bartoli lost focus to let Kvitova come back in the match once again at 5-5. However, with another decisive break in the eleventh game, Bartoli completed the 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 win in more than two and a half hours of scintillating play.
This is Bartoli's first title of the 2011 season in her third final attempt. Bartoli also reached the finals in Indian Wells and Strasbourg and lost to Caroline Wozniacki and Andrea Petkovic respectively.
For her sixth career singles title win, Bartoli collected the winner's check of USD 103,000 and the valuable 470 Sony Ericsson WTA singles ranking points.
