Mardy Fish opts out of the Australian Open
Former Top-10 Mardy Fish of the United States has withdrawn from the Australian Open as his still in the process of overcoming his health issues related to his heart surgery.

American Mardy Fish has backed out of the Australian Open in January as he is still on the road to recovery from his heart related problem. Fish underwent a heart surgery to correct a heart problem called arrhythmia and plans to make a comeback to the ATP Tour in February.

Fish has been absent from the circuit and has not played since the US Open in September, where he was forced to pull out from his fourth-round match against Roger Federer due to inflammation in his heart. He finished 2011 as World No.8 and as the American No.1, but has slipped outside the Top-25 to No.27. He now is the No.3 American behind John Isner and Sam Querrey.

Though there was some good news for the Fish fans as his agent, John Tobias stated, “The good news is that Mardy's health is improving and he is back on the court slowing getting back into his regular workouts.”
