Mardy Fish stood like a lone American warrior in the last season, as he earned much success and also made his presence felt, while his compatriots could not achieve much. Everybody expected the same from this defiant contender in the new season, but things were not going well with his heart.
Recently, in an interview Fish revealed that a scary heart condition forced him to withdraw from this year’s French Open. But, he is expected to be fit for the 2012 Championships, staring from 25th June. According to doctors, this condition was called a form of arrhythmia, where he would awake from a slumber with his heart racing.
The American asserted that "It felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest.” He further added that "During days, I'm totally fine. ... But every time I would go to bed my mind would start racing. Is this going to happen tonight? Is this going to be another night like that? It was super hard to go to sleep. I want to stress that I'm good now, I'm fine, they've fixed the problem."
Fish wanted to play in the French Open, but he could not due to this condition, as the American confirmed, "I don't want people to think I missed the French Open because I didn't want to go because I was just tired. That's just not the case."
