Lleyton Hewitt vs. Sam Querrey: ATP Houston Round 2 Preview
Former World No.1 Lleyton Hewitt will take on the American hope Sam Querrey in the second round of the US Men's Clay Court Championships in Houston on Wednesday. Will the feisty Australian be able to outsmart his opponent on the day?

Double Major winner Lleyton Hewitt had made the best start possible in 2014 as he won his 29th career title at the Brisbane International and that too by beating the overwhelming favourite Roger Federer in a tightly contested three set final inside the Pat Rafter Arena in January.

However, he couldn’t sustain that momentum afterwards as he kept on losing in the initial rounds of every tournament he participated in. In fact, barring a run to the quarterfinals in Memphis, Lleyton has failed to get to the third round of any of the events. In his last competition in Miami, he was knocked out in the second round by the World No.1 Rafael Nadal.

In the meantime, Sam Querrey – the World No.82 has had an even bad time on court. He has hardly played what you call impressive tennis as he has suffered a series of disappointing losses to players that he could have beaten if his big serve had fired in all those matches. But, the fact of the matter is, his serve has lost its spark and that is not allowing Sam to play at a high level.

Hewitt has a dominant 3-1 lead over Querrey in their head-to-head and once again will be the huge favourite to stretch his lead to 4-1 during the course of the afternoon. Especially, if Hewitt can cut down on the unforced errors from his forehand side, then he will be able to register a quick win over challenger on the day; otherwise it could prove to be a tough battle.
