Djokovic wins this pulsating, energy sapping match in just under 3 and half hours to win the Shanghai Masters. With 32 outstanding winners and 6 breaks of serves, Djokovic saved numerous match points to finally overcome the Scottish challenge in style. Murray was a touch slow in the final set and was broken once in the seventh game of the final set and that proved to be decisive. Congratulations to Novak Djokovic!

If the first set was good the second was an absolute thriller! The Serb looked down and out initially and had a pretty lacklustre start to the set. It was in the seventh game that we saw our first break of serve, and really, the crowd had gone quiet and Djokovic as Djokovic kept struggling. The Serb however, did what he does best in the tenth game of the set, switching gears as he galvanized himself to break back Murray saving a championship point. The set went to the tie break where both players played some sensational tennis, Djokovic saved a further 4 championship points, but it was the Serb who came out on top in the end. Djokovic smashed 18 winners in that set.
Its Djokovic on the ascendancy now, and Murray looks a bit rattled now. He will be under immense pressure when he serves for to stay in it.
What an inspired game that was from Novak! Just stunning tennis at time as Murray drops serve after dropping a championship point. Novak to serve in the eleveth game, this seems to be the turning point of the match.

That first set was filled with some high octane tennis from both players. In some ways it reminded us of the US Open final first set, as both players found it difficult to find their rhythm, especially on serve. Djokovic's first serve percentage was remarkably low, as the Serb has been outstanding on serve all tournament long. Something that exemplified the incompetence on serve for the World No.2 was that he was broken a massive 4 times in the set.
From 40-0 up, Novak surrenders his lead to let the Scot take the game. He made a couple of unforced errors in the game which cost him heavily.
Djokovic is unable to break there, even though he had his chance, he may well go on to rue these misses.
