Bidding for her third career WTA title, Veteran Czech Klara Zakopalova will take on World No. 95 Arantxa Rus of Netherlands in her opening encounter of the 2012 Grand Prix De SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem, a WTA International tournament, being played here in Fes, Morocco.

Currently ranked as World No. 45 in the WTA Rankings, Klara Zakopalova is chasing her third-title on tour. The thirty years old Czech has an ordinary 6-9 win-loss record for the season. She lost in the opening round in Aussie Open, but made fine progress in Paris and reached the semi-final. She also reached the fourth round in Indian Wells.

Zakopalova’s opponent is twenty one years old Arantxa Rus of Netherlands, who is currently ranked as World No. 95 in WTA Rankings. Rus is chasing her maiden title on tour and she has a poor 10-10 win-loss record for the season so far. She lost in the opening rounds at Aussie Open and Indian Wells.

This will be the first meeting between these two contenders and amidst present state of affairs, Klara Zakopalova looks favourite.
