Former World No.1 Leyton Hewitt has had a troublesome year so far, and it got even worse. The Aussie's hopes of finally kick starting his season took another beating as big serving Ivo Karlovic dismantled him in straight sets. The Croat closed out the match in an hour and five minutes winning 6-3, 6-2.
A first set that last about half an hour, was just that - short. Karlovic's serve as expected was right up there as the Croat completely dominated the Aussie in the set. He never lost more than a point on his serve, while Hewitt struggled through his service games. Karlovic arrowed 11 aces and had a first serve percentage of 75.
