Gunning for his third title of the season and first Grand Slam trophy, feisty Spaniard Nicolas Almagro will lock horns with another talented contender Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia to secure his berth in the last eight of the 2012 French Open, this year’s second Major tournament, being played here in Roland Garros, Paris.
When it comes to talent and passion for sport, both Janko Tipsarevic and Nicolas Almagro are one of those defiant players who fight till the end and make their presence felt – every time they hit the court, whether it is because of their spirited demeanour on court or intelligent play. Interestingly, both have been active on tour for many years now, but this will be their first meeting. Thus, we can have a lot of surprises in store for us.
Making a great progress in his performance with every season, Janko Tipsarevic is the second ranked Serbian on the ATP World Tour – after World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. This is his best showing at Roland Garros so far and a win here will take him to the quarter-finals. The twenty seven years old Serbian turned professional in 2002 and has won 2 ATP World Tour titles so far. This season, Tipsarevic has a good 27-11 win-loss record and currently he is enjoying his best ranking on the ATP World Tour as World No. 8.
Nicolas Almagro is like those typical Spaniards, who like to play on red-dirt and his performances over the years – has proved it many times. The twenty six years old has won 12 ATP World Tour titles so far and no wonders – all these titles have come on clay. The Spaniard has already won two titles this season with Nice and Sao Paulo. On the other hand, Almagro has a very good 34-11 win-loss record for the season so far.
Considering the present form of both the contenders, we can expect a gruelling battle between them – as both know how to take the attack to the opposition.
