Janko Tipsarevic vs. Gilles Simon: 2012 Thailand Open SF Preview
In this exciting semi-final encounter at the 2012 Thailand Open, top-seeded Janko Tipsarevic will lock horns with Frenchman Gilles Simon. Get ready to enjoy a scintillating battle.

World No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia will take on third-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon in a semi-final encounter at the 2012 Thailand Open. Both contenders have been looking in a great form. Thus, we can expect some stunning tennis action on Saturday.

The Serbian Tipsarevic launched the ATP World Tour Asian Swing in Singapore. And, he is playing at the Thailand Open for the first time. The 28 year old Serbian has a good 49-19 win-loss record for the season and has also claimed a title this season. He is bidding for his fourth career title. On Friday, Janko Tipsarevic earned his 50th match win of the season as he rallied past fifth-seeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 7-6(5), 6-4 in one hour and 50 minutes.

On the other hand, fourth-seeded Gilles Simon of France reached his sixth ATP World Tour semi-final of the season on Friday as he beat fellow-Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-4, 6-1 in 84 minutes at the Thailand Open in Bangkok. The Frenchman has an impressive 35-20 win-loss record for the season and he has also won a title this year. Simon is gunning for his 11th career title.

Simon leads the head-to-head with 4-1. Last time they met in Madrid Masters this year, where the Serbian earned his maiden win against the Frenchman.

Janko should be solid enough this time to take it in 3.

This is hard to call. For me one is an under-achiever (Simon) and the other almost exceeded expectations rankings wise but does not have the big scalps to back that up. Think Simon at his best should take Tipsy again.
