Laura Robson has been enjoying a decent run at the moment. The Briton continued with her impressive form on Thursday by reaching the quarterfinals of the 2012 HP Open, a WTA International Event, being played here in Osaka.
The Briton has been also enjoying a career-high ranking of World No. 54 at the moment. Earlier, she finished as a runner-up in Guangzhou in China. She earned a 6-4 6-4 victory over Zhou Yi-Miao to secure her berth in the quarterfinals.
"I was playing aggressive and not missing very much and then at 5-0 I just lost my concentration a little bit and allowed her back into the match," Robson said. "She started getting a little bit more confidence and was going for her shots more. I'm a little bit disappointed with the way that I played today. I wasn't aggressive enough."
Another Briton Heather Watson also advanced in the quarterfinals, with a 6-7(4) 6-2 6-3, victory over No.6 seed Anabel Medina Garrigues. Watson rallied from 5-3 down in the first set to win this testing duel.
"I knew it was going to be a tough match today," Watson said. "Anabel is a great player, has a lot of experience and she makes a lot of balls. I knew I was going to have to win the points and she wasn't going to give me anything. The first set was very close. It was a high-quality, good set. She played well to win it. I was obviously disappointed, but she earned it. So I just thought, 'I'm playing well. I'll come back in the second set. And stay positive.' And it ended up working today."
In the quarterfinals, Watson will meet Pauline Parmentier, who earned a 6-3 6-4 victory over second-seeded Zheng Jie.

It irks me that Hev progresses further than Robbo.

It's still early days for Robson. Next year she can try to begin strongly and start her assault on the Top 50.

Great result for Hev, shame for Robbo. Had dreams of an all- Brit final there for a bit!
