Lleyton Hewitt, who entered the 2011 Aami Classic tournament, as the lowest ranked played earned the title here in Kooyong, Australia after defeating the Frenchman Gael Monfils in straight sets with a 7-5 6-3 scoreline. With this title, Hewitt also became the first Australian to win this title. It is an exhibition tournament, which has been played every year before the Australian Open in Kooyong.
Hewitt won the first set in 52 minutes. Well, there were some interesting shifts in momentum throughout the first set, as Hewitt went off to a flier and then lost his path due to lapse in concentration and also missed on three set points early, but finally nailed it with a 7-5 score. Uncharacteristic unforced errors did the damage for Monfils in the first set, as the Frenchman played well – but, only in patches.

The second-set also saw shift in momentum, as both the players exchanged breaks in the second-set, but finally the Australian earned the decisive break in the eighth game and held on to his serve in the next game to sail through.
