Hantuchova storms into Monterrey Open semifinals

Second seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova survived a bad start to defeat American Vania King 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 to reach the semifinals of the 2010 Monterrey Open, being played here in Monterrey, USA.
"I played better than I did in my first match," Hantuchova said. "I made fewer mistakes and moved well, and I'm happy with the win. It was also a completely different opponent compared to my first round, hitting very hard."
Hantuchova, the Slovak No.1 was later joined by No.2 and fourth seed here, Dominika Cibukova, who registered a similar win over fifth seeded Hungarian Agnes Szavay, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in a match that lasted two hours and 19 minutes in play.
Third seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova also made it to the last four with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over Czech Klara Zakopalova in just 66 minutes of play.
The semifinal line up was completed when Latvian Anastasija Sevastova struggled past Frenchwoman Alize Cornet 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 to make it to the last four of the event.
