Seventh seeded Gael Monfils faces Andreas Seppi of Italy on Saturday to secure his berth in the final of 2012 Open de Moselle, an ATP World Tour 250 Event, being played here Metz, France.
Gael Monfils was forced to sit on the sidelines for nearly four months with a knee injury and has made a fantastic comeback in this tournament, as he has already fired 33 aces in his two wins. Monfils won his both matches here in straight sets. Currently ranked as World No. 44 in the ATP Rankings, Monfils is gunning for his fifth career title and has a poor 14-7 win-loss record for this injury-ridden season. Monfils is trying to reach his third final in Metz, having won the title in 2009 and finishing runner-up in 2005.
His opponent - Seppi went to three sets in his first round bu twon his last two rounds in straight sets. The Italian won his second career title this year at Belgrade and has 30-22 win loss record this year.
Both players have met on three occasions before and Monfils has beaten Seppi in all three of the meetings. This time also Monfils looks a favourite to win the clash.
