Gael Monfils was forced to sit on the sidelines for nearly four months with a knee injury and has made a fantastic comeback in this tournament, as he has already fired 33 aces in his two wins. Monfils won his both matches here in straight sets. Currently ranked as World No. 44 in the ATP Rankings, Monfils is gunning for his fifth career title and has a poor 14-7 win-loss record for this injury-ridden season. Monfils is trying to reach his third final in Metz, having won the title in 2009 and finishing runner-up in 2005.
His opponent - Seppi went to three sets in his first round bu twon his last two rounds in straight sets. The Italian won his second career title this year at Belgrade and has 30-22 win loss record this year.
