Hungarian Agnes Szavay failed to reach the quarterfinals stage of any tournament she entered after her home triumph at the GDF Suez Grand Prix last year. Although with the hit of the first ball at this year's championships, Szavay got back into her groove and returned to the final, backed by emphatic set of victories.
Szavay has registered several top ten wins in her career including her famous routing of Venus Williams from last year's French Open. She has the tenacity and the game to get past the best in the business. However, inconsistency has been a major problem with the Hungarian star.
Amidst electric crowd support, Szavay will enter today's final with a single minded approach to trouble Schnyder in the first 4-5 games to develop a formidable lead instantly. If Szavay is able to open the match on a strong note, her battle would be half won.
Schnyder, on the other hand, is one of the most experienced claycourt players of her generation. With 11 WTA singles titles under her belt at 30, the Swiss veteran understands the age factor going against her. One of the few left handed players in the circuit, Schnyder knows her way around the slow surface and will keep Szavay on the run to extract as much errors as possible. Schnyder's outwide serves also give her an opportunity to finish the points quickly.
Overall, today's match up is not going to finish before a solid tussle of three gruelling sets. Experience however will take precedence over exuberance as Patty Schnyder will claim her 12th tour title after facing stiff resistance from the home favourite.

I hope for Schnyder's win too. She has been really good on clay over the years and has the ability to go all the way in her 25th WTA final. All the best Patty....!
