2009 French Open winner Roger Federer defeated Romanian Adrian Ungur with 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3 scoreline to advance into the third round of French Open 2012.
Federer secured a early break in the second game of the first set and kept it till the end to close it with 6-3 scoreline. In the second set as well, Federer continued to roll with the momentum and broke Ungur in the first and fifth game to go 2-0 in the match.
In the third set, no breaks of serve were exchanged and it went till the tie breaker where Federer had a match point but he failed to convert it and allowed Ungur to post a fourth set in the match.
The Swiss struck in the second game of the fourth set and maintained the gap till the end to wrap the match in his favour.
Federer will next face Martin Klizan of Slovenia or Frenchman Nicolas Mahut.
