Former World Number One Juan Carlos Ferrero survived mid match jitters to enter the quarterfinals of the 2010 German Open, an ATP World Tour 500 event being played in Hamburg, Germany.
Click here to re-live the tense moments of Ferrero-Nieminen clash.
Ferrero, who made a dream start of the season with an impressive South American run that ended with two titles and a runner up finish, lost his shine momentarily on the European clay. Today, however brought the best out of him as he opened the match like a champion, breaking his opponent Finnish Jarkko Nieminen's serve repeatedly to claim the first set by 6 games to 2.
The second set saw a role reversal of sorts when Nieminen broke the Spaniard's serve in the eighth game to level the match at one set a piece. The decider saw no breaks of serve in the first nine games but as Nieminen faltered in the tenth game, the match came to a close with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 scoreline in Ferrero's favour.
