Top seed David Ferrer registered two wins in one day to reach the final of the 2010 Copa telmex, being played here in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Ferrer first outmuscled Russian Igor Andreev in a rain-delayed match with a 7-5, 6-2 scoreline to record his 300th ATP World Tour match win and then humbled compatriot Albert Montanes 6-1, 6-1 to reach the final.
"I am very happy to be in the final," said Ferrer. "It has been a long time since I last played a final. Today I had to play two matches so it is natural that I am little tired, but I will be ready for tomorrow. Juan Carlos is playing great tennis. I am expecting a very tough match."
In the other semifinal, second seed and former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero struggled past local favourite, Argentine Juan Monaco 6-2, 7-6(7) to reach the final.
"I had the tie-break of the second set under control with 5-1 and an easy forehand," said Ferrero. "After that point he played very well, deep. I didn’t have the chance to attack him. Even though, I didn’t face any break points in the tie-break, so I knew I could close out the match in the second set."
The two players have met six times with Ferrer leading the head-to-Head 5-1.
