Both players looked extremely good in the middle and displayed high quality tennis. They both served heavy and exchanged delightful rallies. No breaks were exchanged between them and the set went to the tie breaker, where Lopez upped the level of his play and won the tie breaker with 7-4 scoreline.
The second set also had a identical story as of the first set. None of the player was able to break each other serve in the set and it went to tie breaker, where Ferrer had a last laugh with 9-7 scoreline.
In the deciding set, Ferrer secured the first break of the match at 4-2 scoreline and kept the break till the end to wrap the set 6-3.
He will next face Canadian Milos Raonic, who downed second seeded Andy Murray 6-4, 7-6(3) earlier in the day.
