Defending champion Roger Federer regained top form today when he took out French Open semifinalist and 16th seeded Austrian Jurgen Melzer to enter the quarterfinals of the 2010 Championships at Wimbledon.
Federer opened the match on a bright note and broke Melzer's serve in the second game to build a strong lead. Once the first set was in hand, Federer looked for further opportunities of sabotage which he got in the second set twice and raced to a two sets to love lead.
The third set did not bring any shift in momentum as Federer cruised to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 win in just 84 minutes of play.
Federer will now meet the winner of the match between Czech Tomas Berdych and German Daniel Brands. Berdych has already scored a win over Federer earlier this year in Miami.
