Former World No.1 Roger Federer avenged his loss to Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis from Indian Wells this year and reached the final of the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters, an ATP World Tour 1000 event being played here in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Federer opened the match under tight competition and failed to take advantage of the opportunities presented to him early on in the match. However, with an elusive break in the tenth game, the Swiss maestro clinched the opening set by 6 games to 4.
The second set did raise the hopes of a turn around for Baghdatis, who gallantly held both his service games to square off the score at 2-2. However, another mistake in the eighth game cost him more than just a game as Federer completed the 6-4, 6-3 match in just 70 minutes of high quality tennis.
Federer now meets American and home favourite Mardy Fish, who as a wild card continued his dream run with a come-from-behind win over compatriot and good friend Andy Roddick, securing a win after trailing the match by a set and 5-2. The match ended after two hours and 15 minutes of gruelling tennis with a 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-1 final scoreline.
